The Mark of Scath is a signal of Trigon which his offspring bear as a warning sign that they must end the world. After Raven kills Trigon, she's free of the mark and can make her own future for herself.
In The Prophecy, Starfire points out that the dot on the Scath means evil on her planet, but it was actually a piece of Beast Boy's tofu calzone.
