Deception is the first episode of the second season of Teen Titans.

Synopsis

The episode begins with an alarm in a bank, which Jinx, Gizmo and Mammoth are robbing. As Mammoth struggles to lift loads of gold from the floor, unassisted by an impatient Gizmo, Cyborg suddenly intervenes and kicks him into the wall with such force he is temporarily stunned. Jinx and Gizmo, though evidently initially caught off guard by the arrival of the Titans, swiftly move to launch a counter-strike, with Gizmo generating illusory images of himself with his hologram device, distracting Robin, Starfire and Beast Boy. As Robin attempts to strike at the false images, the recovered Mammoth leaps at him, his shock wave crashing across the floor, though the Boy Wonder is able to evade it just in time. Raven manages to raise a barrier to block the force of the shock wave, but Jinx's quick jab from the side downs her. Robin moves in to assist, but Jinx's magic has already caused sections of the ceiling to rain down on the twosome, who just barely manage to scatter. Cyborg comments that this is the third raid in one week, to which Robin responds that thus the HIVE Academy must be planning something. Jinx taunts him on his lack of and desire to have such knowledge, which Starfire affirms through both speech and starbolt, knocking Jinx away. Further starbolts are easily evaded by Jinx's excellent agility and reflexes, and the two begin to duel in earnest, Jinx retaliating with her hexes, as Gizmo's treasure-looting is interrupted by a discharge of saliva by Beast Boy in velociraptor form; Beast Boy charges at a screaming Gizmo, but is momentarily stunned by Mammoth's swift projectile intervention. Cyborg manages to smash Mammoth to the side, but the unharmed Gizmo immediately activates a magnet at the ceiling to subdue him temporarily. Raven throws Jinx back, Robin and Starfire behind her, and the watching Gizmo orders his teammates to depart, Jinx sending several last chaos spells to divert the remaining Titans. An enraged Cyborg begins to pursue the thieves, but is stopped by a smiling Robin, who promises that they will once again meet, "sooner than they think", and displays an open communicator, beeping as a signal of the electronic bug Robin has secretly placed upon the witch.
