Blackfire is Starfire's older sister, and former Grand Ruler of Tamaran.

Personality

Though she is Starfire's older sister, the two are polar opposites. Blackfire loves thrills and causing trouble and does not seem to be remorseful about anything she's ever done. The two do not exactly get along well, as Blackfire is constantly trying to, in some way, do away with Starfire, first with getting her arrested and then trying to marry her off to an ooze monster. Blackfire loves fighting her sister, and not just fighting her, but rubbing in the fact that she is older and stronger in her little sister's face. The two of them are poster children for sibling rivalry.

Background

When The Titans first met Blackfire, they seemed to like her so much, Starfire was beginning to think they wouldn't need her around anymore. But just as Star thought about leaving, a couple of alien thugs showed up to haul her away. The Titans discovered that Blackfire had framed her sister for crimes in the Centauri System. Blackfire was hauled away to prison, swearing revenge.

Blackfire later broke from prison and wrested control of Tamaran as its new Grand Ruler. Blackfire attempted to get revenge on Star by forcing her to marry a hideous alien. It was actually part of an elaborate plot to possess a powerful jewel. When her ruse was uncovered, Blackfire was banished from Tamaran.

Blackfire was one of the only villains missing from the lineup of the Brotherhood of Evil, suggesting that she was not out to get all the superheroes, or even the Titans, but simply to take out only Starfire. It is also possible she still sits in jail, this time in a prison that can hold her.

Talents and Abilities

Flight: Like her sister, Blackfire can fly under her own willpower without the aid of wings or any other external applications, at speeds comparable to that of light.

Starbolt Projection: Blackfire can project purple bursts of "starbolt" energy from the palms of her hands. Blackfire also went through the Tamaranean puberty (referred to as the "Transformation"), Blackfire is mentioned to have turned purple for three days. She also has the ability to channel her starbolt energy from her eyes.

Self-Sustenance: Blackfire also has the ability to survive in the hostile conditions of space without any sort of protection or special gear.

Superhuman Strength: Being a Tamaranean, Blackfire is several times stronger than any human. In "Bethrothed", She seemed to be physically stronger than Starfire, It is unknown if that strength came as a result of the Jewel of Charta.
