9/10 We’ve finally reached my last Teen Titans review, and it's the series as a whole because today is the 22nd anniversary of the show.
Plot: Five teen superheroes save the town from threats while dealing with personal issues such as family life, self-worth, and friendships.
Positives:
1. The animation is amazing, the anime-esque expressions are funny, and the fight scenes are well choreographed.
2. The character development is phenomenal; every Titan (except for Starfire) got a season focusing on them throughout the series run with arcs that reveal more about their backstory.
3. The voice performances are magnificent; each of them does an amazing job when it comes to their characters and how they interact.
4. The storylines are great; the mix of comedic and serious stories balances out the tone of the series by having some lighthearted moments between arcs.
5. The Titans are incredible; all of them get developed excellently, and their interactions with each other are entertaining. My favorite arcs were Terra and Raven because of the impact they had on the series. Terra's sacrifice in Aftershocks will always be one of the most iconic moments from the show, along with Raven defeating Trigon in The End.
6. Every villain in this series has been phenomenal; their motives were clear, they had enough screentime to leave an impact, and their encounters with the Titans were outstanding. My favorite was Trigon because, unlike Slade, he was almost unstoppable to the Titans, so seeing them trying to defeat him was entertaining, plus his design was fire.
7. The theme song is a banger.
Negatives:
1. Season 5 was underwhelming in some aspects, like I stated in my Season 5 review. The Doom Patrol weren’t good characters, and the finale left so many questions unanswered.
2. Season 1 had a bit of a slow start for me. The first few episodes were good, but some episodes in the middle were pretty meh.
Overall, Teen Titans is an outstanding series. This binge made me appreciate the show so much more. I see why this is considered one of the best Cartoon Network shows of all time because the storytelling, villains, and character development are amazing, and the tension is so entertaining to see. If you haven’t watched the series, you should start now.
