Teen Titans Season 1
8/10 How could critics hate this season? Sure it’s not perfect but it’s nowhere near bad.
Plot: The first season revolves around Robin’s obsession with Slade, a mysterious villain who knows his every move.
Positives:
1. The animation is fantastic, the fight sequences are awesome, and the anime-style expressions are hilarious.
2. The Titans were amazing throughout the season, especially Robin, his obsession with Slade was tackled well, and his efforts on taking him down were the highlights of the season.
3. Slade’s role as the main antagonist was great, Ron Perlman’s performance was perfect and his interactions with Robin were fantastic.
4. The comedic episodes were decent, compared to other seasons they’re weak but I enjoyed some of them.
5. The voice performances were spectacular. Scott Menville’s performance as Robin in this season was phenomenal, especially in The Apprentice when he chooses to suffer with his friends then work for Slade.
6. Speaking of which, the season finale was fantastic. The Titans fighting Slade was enjoyable and Robin’s disguise as Red X was good too.
Negative:
1. The comedic episodes were pretty meh. Honestly I didn’t care about them and preferred to focus on Robin’s obsession with Slade.
Overall, this season was great, Robin’s obsession with Slade was amazing, the side villains were great, and the action was wonderful. My only complaint is the comedy which isn’t as refined or funny as in later seasons.
